Foundation Waterproofing

When doing foundation repair or foundation waterproofing we use the utmost care and the least disruption to the environment!

  1. Excavate down to foundation of wall and clean wall ready for inspection.
  2. Locate cracks and repair using an epoxy and leave a level surface and parge if needed.
  3. Important step is using a rubberised elasticated tar membrane which is troweled on thick to leave a thick barrier for water and the wall can still breathe.
  4. Apply a plastic layer over tar for enhanced protection.
  5. Apply the delta membrane over the wall for your final layer.
  6. Apply gravel and install weeping tile with filter cover which is connected to existing weeping tile or new drain or sump pump if needed.
  7. Apply a heavy layer of gravel to allow for water filtration so weeping tile never gets blocked. Then another layer of filter is placed before soil is replaced for filtering dirt.
  8. Apply a trim and seal on top of delta membrane to provide a final seal to your waterproofing, leaving your project water-resistant; then back-fill and grade ground.

Easy to tell signs that you need Basement Waterproofing

If your home has a basement–regardless of whether or not it’s finished–it’s important to ensure that this space is adequately protected from moisture penetration. Water leaks and moisture issues inside basements are very common, but the good news is that there are numerous effective and affordable options for basement waterproofing. Not sure if your basement needs to be waterproofed? There are a few red flags to be on the lookout for that could indicate the need to contact a local basement waterproofing specialist for an in-home evaluation.

1. Water Stained Walls

Do the walls of your basement have unexplained staining on them? If so, then these could be water stains that have formed over time as moisture has penetrated the outside walls of your basement. Depending on whether your basement is finished or not, you may see this staining on the cinderblock foundation walls or even along drywall. Water stains tend to be brownish in color, but this can vary (especially if your walls are painted).

2. Mold and Mildew Problems

If you’re constantly dealing with mold and mildew in your basement, this is also a sign that moisture is getting into the space and causing problems. Mold can also be dangerous to the health of you and anyone else living inside your home, as it releases spores into the air that can be breathed in and lead to respiratory problems. If you have any mold or mildew in your basement, it’s time to explore your options for waterproofing as soon as possible.

3. High Humidity Levels

Sometimes, there aren’t any obvious visible signs of moisture problems in a basement. However, a simple test of your basement’s humidity can reveal these issues. Have your basement’s humidity levels tested and make sure they’re consistent with the rest of your home. If they’re on the high side, then your basement could become a breeding ground for mold and other moisture-related issues.

4. Foundation Cracks

Last but certainly not least, be on the lookout for cracks in your basement foundation. These often appear in the form of “stair-step” or diagonal cracks along foundation walls, but they can appear in ceilings and other areas of your basement as well. Over time, moisture penetration in your basement can lead to foundation problems that can be costly to fix and dangerous.
