Chimney Repair And Waterproofing

We needed to fix our chimney based on the advice of a contractor for some previous work and we had noticed some water stains developing in our basement. We called A&A Masonry as they appeared to be able to help with both of these issues.

Right from our first contact with the company to the final work being completed, we were incredibly pleased. The masonry crew of Ronaldo and Augusto were extremely professional, explained what they were doing to our very curious 3-year old son (which he loved!) and did excellent work. Our waterproofing was done by Alex and his crew in a very tight area of the house but they managed to complete the work with minimal disturbances to the surrounding area and took the time to explain what they were doing to me (and again, to our very curious 3-year old son).

Exterior Foundation Repair And Basement Waterproofing

We are very happy with another fine job from A&A Masonry. Several years ago A&A did a superb job of interior waterproofing in our basement. This time we needed repairs to the exterior where water was coming in through a breach at the point where our old foundation meets a newer extension – which had never been waterproofed by the builder. Alex and his crew dug down to the footings (by hand!) and worked their magic in a very cramped spot between ours and our neighbour’s house, repairing some ‘impressive’ cracks and adding new state-of-the art waterproofing membranes and drainage tiles. Thanks again to all the team at A&A.

Kind, Professional And A Very Thorough Job!

During the recent snow thaw followed by a couple days of rain I experienced a low-level flood in my basement originated from a corner area of my house.

I looked up Homestars.com for well-reviewed waterproofers in the Toronto area. As a result, I contacted A and A Masonry and another company. David from A and A Masonry arrived in short order to provide an estimate. He also brought along the waterproofing crew in the event I had any specific questions for them. I found David to be kind, informative and professional. As I had done a lot of research into waterproofing materials and techniques, I did have some questions that the waterproofers in attendance answered to my satisfaction. After receiving estimates from the two companies, I called my father in-law who had his whole exterior foundation waterproofed and insulated about 6 years earlier. It was then I realized he had used A and A Masonry as recommended by Homestars reviewers. He advised me they were very hard working, kind and did a thorough and clean job. Now my father in-law is a retired tradesman and is a perfectionist like me so I know he kept an eye on the work and his opinion to me would have more merit.

Now A and A Masonry’s estimate was higher than the other well-reviewed company but now with the extremely high endorsement from my father in-law, I chose A and A Masonry to do the work as I wanted to be as certain as possible of a future dry basement.

I was surprised at how soon they were able to begin work given the news advising of several homes in the Toronto area with water damage due to the melting snow with rain afterwards.
The waterproofers that I was introduced to during the estimate process were a father, Vladimir with his two sons, Alex and Eugene. Just as my experience with David Vena, Vladimir, Alex and Eugene were so kind, hard working, very thorough in their work and patient with me (as I said earlier I am a perfectionist and questioned them along the way during their work and they always kept me informed and treated me with kindness, patience and professionalism). They arrived everyday including Saturday and Sunday until the work was completed and the area cleaned.

As a bonus, this company also does concrete work so after the new fill settles for several months or longer, they can be hired to repair the concrete if any needed to be broken up during the waterproofing process.

I highly recommend A and A Masonry.

Chimney Rebuild, Waterproofing Of Basement Foundation

William assessed the problems to be fixed, suggested the best course of action and then drew up the job plan.
Ronaldo and his crew rebuilt the chimney. Vlad, Eugene & Alex did the demolition and removal of the concrete patio and walkway and then waterproofing of the foundation.
The job went according to schedule, all of the staff were very professional, polite, hard working and took the time to explain the work as it progressed.
I’m very pleased with A & A Masonry’s work and strongly recommend them.

Exterior Waterproofing Work

Vlad, Alex and Eugene from A&A Masonry did a spectacular waterproofing job! I recently bought a house in Stoney Creek that was built in 1983. Upon moving into the house, I had noticed that the basement is damp. A&A Masonry was prompt and professional in pinpointing the problem. After removing drywall in the basement they pointed to several cracks in the foundation. Vlad, Alex and Eugene arrived a week later and began the waterproofing. They are very hardworking guys and professional in explaining all the steps of the work that they were doing. After excavating the foundation of my house, they waterproofed it by applying special treatment. They’ve done everything in a very clean and tidy manner, despite the harsh autumn rains and weather. I am now a happy owner of a dry basement!

A bit pricey but we are very satisfied with this company. We had water issues for the past twenty years and finally Colm, who did the waterproofing, did a fantastic job of fixing the problem! He was not only professional and courteous but he showed us, in detail, step by step progress of the work and answered all our questions. We are extremely satisfied with his work. Basement Waterproofing

I had a problem with water leaking into my basement. A&A Masonary repaired the issue. There were two workers on this project, a lead and a helper. The lead worker Colm kept me informed every step of the way, he was excellent to work with. Once the project was completed both men cleaned up and there was no mess left behind. I was very impressed with the workmanship. We had a rain storm the day after the project and the basement stayed dry.

Waterproofing

I recently had A&A Masonry perform waterproofing work along one entire side of my house, and found the team (led by Alex) to be very professional, courteous, efficient, and hard working. Upon arrival and a quick introduction, they went straight to work, digging alongside the house down to the bottom of the foundation. Over the course of the following days, they provided us with regular updates on their progress, and took the time to explain their procedures of waterproofing. The team also installed a sump pump neatly in the basement, with very nice clean-up there as well. Getting the waterproofing done was the prime focus, and Alex and his team worked through the Easter long weekend to ensure that all work was done in time. After finishing, they cleaned up the driveway very well, and even dropped by a few weeks later to top up the gravel on the driveway to help level the area where they had excavated. Overall, we are very pleased with the work done by A&A Masonry, and the commitment to customers shown by their workers such as Alex and his team.

We had a leak in our basement weeks before we were preparing to list our house for sale. After researching online and interviewing a few different contractors, we decided to hire A&A Masonry. Greg, was the first on site and after a thorough inspection, determined it was in fact a foundation leak. He took looks of pictures, explained in detail what was required and set out to getting it repaired in quickly manner knowing we wanted to get our house listed. An interior waterproofing crew was dispatched within a few days. Colm and Jeremy arrived to our house on time and did a great job getting the waterproofing completed quickly and efficiently. They walked me through each stage of the process, even getting us to take pictures of the progress. I am very happy with their work and now have a dry basement. Thanks again Colm and Jeremy!

I acquired 4 quotes with all of them begin relatively similar – the difference was in the customer service I received. I struggled with the decision due to cost but Bill remained extremely patient with me as my life situation changed. Once the job began Eugene and Vladimir were again extremely patient with explaining to me my choices as well as going above and beyond to inform me of all logistical progressions. Anytime work is done on one’s home it can be stressful and irritating – this company did everything possible to minimize the annoyance of having to do home repairs. Thank you

Waterproofing Service

We had Brad come in as the third person to give us a quote on our basement that had some leaks. Right away he was able to spot out the apparent issues and that the contractors didn’t. He was the only person to recommend internal waterproofing because we had a dug out basement, and the only one who told us that the external waterproofing that we originally thought we wanted could hinder our houses foundation (the house is 106 years old). Since we this is the first major repair we have done to the house we didn’t know what to do. But after some online research we found out that his recommendation was 100% on the mark and that the other quotes we got could have caused serious damage to the house.

Brad was also able to give us a thorough cast breakdown that included some worst case scenarios so that we wouldn’t be caught by surprise.

We were worried that we may not be able to have people come waterproof our basement for a couple of weeks but A&A masonry impressed us again and was able to get Dominic and Calum in to work on our basement within 2 days.

Dominic and Calum were absolutely amazing and were some of the nicest people I have met. Once they got there they got straight to work and walked us through everything they were doing, and as we had questions about other aspects of the house they were able to refer us to people that have been equally great.

Both waterproofers were also extremely clean and even cleaned up after the first day they were there even though they were coming back the next day. In order to get the job done (and not have to come back to for a third day) they were willing to stay till seven and there workmanship and attitudes didn’t suffer a bit.

Over all the project only took two days and we have not seen a trace of water since. A&A has a great warranty and with the skills and quick follow-up that they showed us I am sure that we would have no issues at all if we had any issues with our basement t going forward.

All in all we are very pleased.

Cold Room Waterproofing

We noticed a few months ago that water was getting into our cold room, usually after a rain storm. We decided to tackle it from both end; resealing/caulking the front porch (done by another company), and waterproofing the cold room (done by A&A). From the initial visit to “project day”, their team was professional in explaining their process and what we should expect. On project day, the team was on-time and kept us in the know of what they were doing and explained what they had done before they left. There work will give our family peace of mind for years to come.

We hired A&A to address some water issues we had been experiencing in our old fieldstone foundation century home. This entailed carefully digging out the front and back by hand due to obstructions, repairing and parging the foundation, installing a waterproof exterior membrane and window well, then regrading.

Communication was tremendous from start to finish and drove an ideal outcome. Scoping the work with Dan was a breeze, and Dominic (the foreman) was outstanding to work with – extremely knowledgeable and responsive and always mindful of both function and aesthetics. His team was skilled, conscientious, and professional; we were really quite impressed.

Look no further! We contacted A&A based on the amazing reviews on Homestars and we’re happy we did. We had the pleasure of meeting Brad and he took the time to explain in detail the work that would be carried out and provided a realistic timeline. Within one week, the construction commenced with the wonderful construction team. Dominic and his crew Vlad, Alex & Eugene went over and beyond in terms of attention to detail, quality of work and overall great attitude they showed while working on this project. Dominic was instrumental in assisting with the installation of the sump pump. Along with the weeping tile, it works like a charm. He went as far as contacting us 2 weeks after the installation to follow up and ensure all is working well. Overall, the customer service A&A provided is far beyond what we expected. Removal Of A Cold Room

We bought our 1950s home almost 3yrs ago. We knew from day one that the old unused cold room needed attention but we kind of ignored while dealing with other projects. It deteriorated further of course, Steve and crew at A&A did an excellent, tidy and timely job of removing the old porch, cold room, bricking in the doorway, waterproofing. They removed all debris from the property, very happy with the outcome!

Waterproofing Cold Room & Window Well, Window Ledge Masonry

Initially looking for masonry work for window ledge. Then discovered mould & wet in the cold room on the plywood walls. I realized that A&A could handle both. Read the reviews on Homestars & based on that, gave them a call. Initially Brad came out & explained that due to the size of the room & the damage, the waterproofing could be done from inside. Dominic & his crew were great. They worked efficiently & quickly. Waterproofed the room and window well (unrelated) and installed a sump pump. Finally Dom replaced the window ledge. He is very personable & explained what was being done. Each day any mess was cleaned up. I would definitely recommend A&A, Dom and crew and will use them again if anything else occurs.

Hired A&A after a quote from Brad on an exterior waterproofing job that a previous contractor had left half way. The 100yr old walls needed some serious rebuilding / parging, new weeping tile, and a sump pump installed inside. Dominic led the work and did an excellent job. He took pride in his work and was happy to walk me through any critical decisions along the way. He was also very responsive to my requests and kept the job site very clean (critical as we share the driveway with me neighbour). Zero complaints and I actually believe A&A will stand by the work if I have any follow-up problems/issues. Tough to find guys like this in the city so hire them if you can.

Basement Waterproofing, Chimney Repair & Tuckpointing

I can’t say enough good things about this company, and the people I interacted with throughout the process of waterproofing our crumbling brick foundation. They get a 10 out of 10 and here is why:
1. Responsiveness: I never, never waited for a response – not just when pricing the job with Brad during downpour season when most contractors wouldn’t even call back, but during the job, when we had questions, and even afterwards when we needed a bit more backfill. No matter the time of day or night, the basement foreman Domenic was quick to respond via text or call.
2. Professionalism: Domenic and his team of a father & sons (Eugene, Alex and Vlad) doing our excavation and waterproofing were knowledgable, professional, and courteous throughout. I had no concerns that they knew exactly what they were doing and how to fix our issues. Same goes for the great team on our tuckpointing and chimney.
3. Results: our basement is dry for the first time in probably 90 years. Our chimney is beautifully rebuilt. And our bricks have never looked better.

We got a lot of quotes. These guys are the ones we picked – they were head and shoulders above the rest. If we could give them 11 out of ten, we would.

Foundation Repair And Waterproofing

After the winter of 13/14 we suffered numerous leaks to our foundation that resulted in flooding to our recently renovated basement. The work required a great deal of foundation repair (hydraulic cement), waterproofing and installation of a sump-pump.

The work was completed on-time with minimal disruption. I was particularly impressed with the company’s straightforward, no short-cut approach. One minor issue post-completion was fixed even though it was stated in the contract that it was not their responsibility.

I was having water infiltration in the crawl space.of the basement. I called and Bill came over that night. He took the time to understand the problem. He let me know they were busy and would try to squeeze me in as soon as possible. Dominic called within a week than they showed up and completed the project over a weekend. Dominic certainly knows his stuff, I learned more about masonry and waterproofing than I ever.thought i’d know. These guys are really hard.working and the quality of their workmanship shows. If you are looking for a company to get the job done right this is the company you need to call.
